A New Tradition- maybe

Halloween isn't my most favorite holiday. Last year we moved on Halloween and that meant that we didn't have to do the costume thing and trick-or-treating was so easy. I just told the kids we'd go get them a bag of candy-their choice. It turned out great!

This year though, I wasn't so lucky. We even got to carve pumpkins as well. Here's what we did on Friday, October 30.

The kids didn't have school that day and so we spent some time cleaning and just hanging out for the day. We started the pumpkin carving fun about 3:30 pm. I didn't have to do much to help the kids out! My two boys did a great job with their pumpkins and then took some time and helped out with Mayci's pumpkin.
It took Mayci a minute to decide if she wanted to put her hands in her pumpkin or not. She finally decided it might be kind of fun to try!

There was a school carnival on Friday night and we talked the kids into doing something else. We took the kids out to dinner at Chuck-a-Rama and then headed over to the roller skating rink. It was Mayci's first time rollerskating and at first she was a little wobbly. After going around the rink about 5 times, she was getting more confident. She didn't quite master skating all by herself but she would get mad if we tried to get her off the rink.

All the other kids wore themselves out rollerblading around the rink for a few hours.

Justin and I spent more time on this bench than we did out on the rink. We were exhausted way too soon! We must be getting older!!

We might just have to make this a yearly tradition. It made for a fun night for all of us!
