A Terrific, Tiring Day

It didn't rain today!!!

In fact, the wind wasn't blowing today either. We enjoyed some t-ball/softball games this morning, taught piano lessons and then headed out for a great hike with some great families.

I walk/exercise each morning with some great ladies. We've decided that each week we will go somewhere with our kids and have a great afternoon away. We decided today that we'd head up towards Kelly Canyon and do some hiking.

One of the families that came with us has done their share of hiking/backpacking. We told her that she'd have to share with us all of the fun places that they've been to.

Our first adventure:
If we counted right, there were 13 kids between us 3 mom's. We're hoping for a few more families to come with us during the rest of our summer adventures.
Austin, Mayci, Porter, Mackay, Kenzie, Dallee, Madison, JR, Bridger, Hunter, Brooke and Braydon (Baylor isn't in this picture).

The moms. Marisa, Lynette, Ashlee.

This was about half-way up the trail. There was a creek running along the path and we stopped quite a few times so Mayci could check out the water and all of the waterfalls along the way. I took lots of pictures but most of them are of just the girls. The boys happened to finish the hike in record time. We didn't see them after we started the hike.

This was toward the top of the trails. The view was SO beautiful. My camera doesn't do it justice.
After the hike, the kids weren't ready to go home. We decided to head over to the river and let the kids throw some rocks into it. What's an adventure outdoors with kids if they can't get wet?
Porter and Braydon had to refill some water bottles for more ammo!!

Here's the gang looking out over the bridge. Madison's mouth is open due to the very loud burp she let out as I was taking the picture!!
This is what you get with water bottles and boys!!
We walked just a little bit farther down the path, along the river, and found a fun spot to play in. The water was shallow enough that the kids could walk a little bit out to a higher part just out from the river bank. All the kids really wanted to get wet since it was so warm. All the moms gave in and said they could get wet. The river was moving fast but not too swiftly.
We didn't let the younger ones get in the water. This picture was too cute. They sat like this for quite awhile.
Baylor, Mackay, Mayci and Bridger were stuck up on the road, out of the water. Aren't they so dang cute?
So, the boys wanted to take their shirts off and go all the way under the water. I told them that they could if they got their bodies under the water and stayed under for 5 seconds. They thought they were tough and agreed to that. Then they got in the water and chickened out. The longest they stayed in the water was probably 3 seconds. Hunter did spend quite some time jumping in and out of the water.
Here's Austin's first attempt and staying in the water for 5 seconds.
Here's Braydon trying to jump all the way under the water.
Now Austin's turn. It was fun to watch the boys jump in the water but just as much fun to watch the boys on the side cheering.
What is it about boys? Us moms just sat up on the road and laughed at how boys will be boys.
All the kids were wet and some were even muddy. My kids were tired when we got home. I was tired when we got home. We had such a great afternoon enjoying the warm weather though. The weather was great but the company was even better. I look forward to many more adventures like this one. It's fun to do stuff like this and come home tired because you were playing so hard!
Nothing beats summertime and kids! What fun memories we're making!!
