I didn't take near enough pictures this year. I'm sure it was due to the fact that I was enjoying each and every minute that the camera never came to my mind until after the moment was over. I did get up and go exercise that morning and then came home and started on some dough for rolls and sugar cookies. The girls really wanted to cut out shaped cookies. We doubled the batch and ended up with LOTS of dough. We made some sugar cookies and also some thumbprint cookies. We now have more cookies than we need to have in the house. Our freezer is going to have to hold some of them until a snowy day in January.
After all the baking was done and dinner was finished and cleaned up, we played a candybar game. The kids loved this game. We placed BIG candy bars in the middle of the table and we took turns rolling dice. If you rolled a 7, 11, or doubles you got to pick a candybar from the table. Or, you could take a candybar from someone else. Mayci was a lucky roller and rolled a 7, 11, or doubles each time she rolled. She picked her prize the very first time and when someone else tried to take her prize, her response was an immediate "NO!" We now have a rule that you can't take a prize from anyone under 3!!! The game went by much too fast though. We then opened up 1 present as our tradition goes. Of course, the kids all opened up pj's. They really wanted to pick the present that they opened but the parents won. The kids all loved their pj's though.
After opening their pj's, the kids weren't in the mood for games so we opened up one of our movies under the tree. We opened up 'Despicable Me'. We hadn't seen it yet and so the kids, of course, were VERY excited to watch it. We don't own a big TV. I think our laptop screens are bigger than our TV is. We have a projector set up in our master bedroom and a big white sheet put up on our wall. Justin and I watch movies this way and the kids really wanted to watch a movie this way as well. So, we let them all join us on our bed as we watched the movie!
It made for a fun Christmas Eve. The kids were tired around 9 PM and were a little anxious to head to bed so that Christmas would arrive sooner. They even had a cup of cocoa with mint in it (they were told that mint would help them fall asleep faster). As parents, we didn't complain. That meant that we could go to bed sooner as well. It's been a long week for Justin and I and we were tired as well. We were almost as excited for Christmas as the kids were!

Our kids love getting jammies on Christmas Eve and I love having that tradition too. James should have gone to your house for cookies because I didn't make his favorite this year; frosted sugar cookies.
