Friday the families were invited up for the day. The girls and I decided to head up there. We could have stayed the night but opted to come home and sleep in our own, soft beds! (Braydon was taken up on Thursday afternoon to spend an extra day at camp.) There were some games set up for the day. We made it just before they started a thing called 'Coulter's Run'. It was a relay event and the boys were pretty excited for it! There were a few runners that started the race, each kid running a certain distance. Then the runners tagged a swimmer and they had to swim 25 yrds. (I think is what it was) and then jump out of the water and tag one of the canoe team members. The canoe team had to row across the lake and tag the next runner. That runner ran and tagged an archer. The archer tagged the runner back and then ran to tag a boy at the rifle range. Then that boy tagged a new runner and there were a couple of runners to finish the race off!
Our troop won their heat and ended up winning the entire event by one second. They finished in 6:42. 2nd place was 6:43. 3rd place was 6:44. It was a pretty close race and so much fun to watch and to cheer the boys on!

The girls were getting pretty hot waiting and they really wanted to get into the water! We didn't bring swimsuits because we didn't think that they would be allowed to swim. It really was a warm day! Mayci missed her nap and she got pretty moody and emotional due to no nap and the heat! She wouldn't even look at me for a picture!
They did such a great job with their part of the race. Even with his cast on, Austin did a great job rowing! They had such a great lead on the other teams. Once they got to the other side of the lake, Austin tagged Braydon who took off running and it was so fun watching my boys and being excited for them. There was adrenaline running through me for them! So much excitement!

You can see the other canoe teams in the background of this picture. The lake was really pretty nice. It would have been fun to have been up there for the week and spent some time hanging out on it! 
After Coulter's Run, they had a scoutmaster's belly flop contest! The stunts got pretty crazy as we got through more of the scoutmasters. This guy stood on a stool and did a flip off of it. There were some impressive belly flops. They were all judged too. Justin had to participate and he was the first one. He only got a 6.4 for his score. He didn't perform as good as he should have! He know now for next year!

This was after the Scoutmaster's belly flop. We were waiting for the Warm River Rapids to start. It consisted of about 7 canoes going out in the swim area with each canoe filled with 4 boys. Each canoe attempted to swamp the other canoe and fill it with water or get it tipped over. The last canoe floating upright was the winner. There were a few cuts and bruises from the event but the boys had a blast! 
We headed back to the troops campsite and had dinner. No, scout camp food is not the greatest! I brought up some salad to share with everyone and then we also brought up a cake so we could sing to Kenzie! We made a 'Better-than-anything' cake upon Kenzie's request! 
All the boys sang to her and she blew all the candles out!
The boys were all too willing to have a piece of cake. I was glad that we could share it with all of them so I wasn't tempted to eat the whole pan by myself!
I think Kenzie enjoyed spending the day with her dad and Austin. She missed them and was sad that they weren't there for her actual birthday. She had some fun running around and exploring with her sister. I think we all loved spending time with Justin and Austin after not seeing them all week. They were pretty glad to get some time with us too! They really did miss us that week! 
I think Austin has decided that it would be fun to work at the scout camp. When he is 14 he can go up and volunteer for the summer. Then the following years, he can go up and actually get paid to spend 5 weeks playing games and helping boys earn merit badges. He'd have to act silly and put on skits. He'd have to get loud and crazy at times. I think he'd do just fine at that though! Oh, Austin also got called out to be in the Order of the Arrow. He's kind of excited about that. He'll go for 3 days in September and spend a night all by himself in silence with hardly anything to survive with. Then he'll spend another few days doing a service project somewhere. I guess it's kind of a big deal. We'll let you know how that goes!
