State Fair Time

On Labor Day, Justin decided that we all needed to get out of the house and go to the State Fair. We had all been sick over the weekend with colds and some of us were throwing up. Justin said we'd all feel better if we got out of the house. We did feel better, too. It was a fun day and we laughed alot at the kids.

I craved food all day long. Fairs are known for their 'fair' food and we had plenty of choices to make when it came time for lunch. I was a little dissapointed with my Navajo Taco and was wishing I had gone with the overpriced hamburger that the kids opted to get. We did find some wonderful Reed's icecream before we left the fair. Yes, it was expensive but it tasted oh so perfect. All of us walked away from the fair with smiles on our faces.

We showed up to the fair just after 10 am and left around 2:00 pm. That's when the crowds started to get pretty crazy and out of control. We saw most of the exhibits and saw some of the animals. We bought a few things from the fair and mostly we just enjoyed being with each other.

So, this was so funny. We were walking through all of the big, work horses and Justin really wanted to get a picture of us in front of one of them. This one horse was posed and ready for us to have a picture taken in front of him. We hurried to get all of the kids lined up and were almost ready when the horse decided he was done posing and wanted to show us his rear end. Everyone was ok with that except Mayci. When she saw this big horse turn his back end toward us, this is all we heard from her, "Oh CRAP!"

We all busted up laughing and Justin hurried to take a picture and this is all he got!
The girls hurried away and the boys turned to see what the big deal was. Mayci almost jumped out of her stroller she was so scared!

Madison and Kenzie wanted their picture taken in front of every horse there.

What's a fair if you don't go visit the petting zoo. Justin took the kids through the petting zoo while I waited out, away from the smells, for them.

After the petting zoo, we found a few characters wandering around (these weren't the only ones. I just didn't think it would be appropriate to take pictures of the others walking around).

The girls found some hulla hoops and played with them for a few minutes. They really wanted to buy one but I couldn't justify paying the price they wanted for them.

They had fun with them though.

Of course, the boys found Play'N'Trade and did a song or two on Guitar Hero.

I love having days like this. No schedule to follow. Just our family. No rush. Just fun memories we made together. As a family! Can't wait for next years state fair!!
